In Belgian schools I’m showing
http://www.viamichelin.fr mountain views including walking paths and ski slopes
http://www.openstreetmap.org cycling paths
https://wego.here.com this is former navteq/nokia, now owned by a german car manufacturers consortium
https://mydrive.tomtom.com owned by navigation company TomTom
Neeva.com showing limited Apple maps
Streetmap.co.uk with UK postcodes
Hence, POI are not owned by a single application, they are public, in the public domain. Street views is not owned by any single application.
Altitude data for the whole world is shared so X-Plane flight simulator is using this, and the mapping apps also when showing altitude lines.
Best detailed walking maps are owned by national institutions, Ordonance Survey in UK, IGN in France
Kids and the wider public should know about different mapping applications.
Please enjoy, Dr Christophe
